Omgeeeee #FABSQUAD! Life BC (before COVID) was pretty different for me and my family. Our downtime was spent traveling to our favorite cities around the US at least monthly and enjoying an
international vacation every summer. On normal weekends we would gather together for food and fellowship at local restaurants or at my parent’s house.
Fast forward 5 months. All travel plans have been postponed and we have not eaten at a restaurant even once. In all honesty, the disruption to our normal routines and now our summer traditions have begun to take a toll on us. Along came a bright spot. A local event planner recently teamed up with the best outdoor park in town to create a socially distant drive-in movie experience in Memphis, Tennessee.
I was so excited to get dressed (which is code for putting on hair and makeup), pack yummy snacks, and drinks for a night out in nature with my sister. We had a whole entire ball eating and singing along to the songs of The Whiz. Watching Michael Jackson and Diana Ross on the jumbotron under the stars was pure magic.
There have been so many moments during this pandemic that have allowed me to get crystal clear on what really matters in my life. Things like family, genuine friendship, health, and peace of mind are at the top of my list.
I’m so grateful for everything that this season has taught me. Yes, I still miss attending live events, but Drive-In Movie Night Under the Stars helped me to get my COVID life and feel like my old self again. It also gave me the push I needed to pivot the way that I approach events for the foreseeable future. Thinking outside the box and giving my ideas a slight twist is the path forward. Virtual and physically distanced events is the new normal.
Speaking of events, I had such incredible things planned for you in 2020, then Ms. Rona’ (aka coronavirus) sidelined them. Honestly, I’m over the isolation and not being able to gather with you in a group. The events WILL GO ON! The FAB Gathering is back!!! This time we are keeping it safe and fun at home with a Virtual PJ Party. Cute pajamas, laughs, dancing, and pillow talk with a few of my super friends is on the itinerary.
