Heeeey #FABSQUAD! I had the pleasure of experiencing my forever FLOTUS Michelle Obama as the #iambecoming book tour made a stop in Minnesota. Minnesota huh? Yes! I know it sounds random, but trust me it was in divine order. You see my sister relocated to Minneapolis and I was her first visitor (take that Mom and Dad lol). The most amazing part was that the event was held on my BIRTHDAY! Yeah the hubby got major brownie points for gett my sis and I tickets.
There were so many magical moments as Mrs. O spoke candidly about her life as a driven black girl from a middle class family who went on to shatter society’s glass ceilings by attending Princeton and Harvard University and THEN marrying the amazing man who would become our swaggalicious POTUS. She dropped so many gems and nuggets about marriage, motherhood, and mentorship that were timely and relevant to my life right now.
Becoming Me
It was such a delight to share time and space with such a smart, gutsy, and successful woman who looks just like me ON MY BIRTHDAY. If I had to choose my favorite moment from last night it would be when she said, “don’t forget to fit life into your lifestyle.” This year I am taking more time to appreciate the moments, experiences, and memories that make up my life.
